Invercargill, June 29. • Minnie Dean, nowundersentence of death, preserves perfect equanimity, eats heartily, sleeps well, and chats cheerfully with the attendant, and the only regret she has expressed is that she brought disgrace upon her relatives and friends found residing at the Larches. SERIOUS CHARGE. Christchurch, June 29, At the Leeston S.M. Court yesterday, a small farmer named Patrick Mooney was charged with attempting to shoot John M' Einnie. There was some dispute between the two over a drain, when Mooney brought a double-barrelled gun fully charged, presented it at M'Vinnieand pulled the trigger. The cap snapped, but the gun did not go off. He was remanded
