A False Report.

We are heartily glad that the information received by the Picton Press and commented strongly on by leading articles in the Express and our own columns should turn out to be a hoax. How the false news originated we know not, but it had an air of authenticity about ifc that led us to regretfully believe in its truth. The delay that has taken place appears to have bsen unavoidable, and it is pleasing to know that the work will forthwith be put in hand. The Railway Commissioners are, after all, not so bad as they have been painted, and have no intention qf running counter to the intentions of Parliauiflnt. We are glad our strictures were unneeded, and sorry that they appeared.
