[from our own correspondent/ Auckland, Feb. 8. Alfred Buckland’s weekly report : — The Haymarket on Friday, Dec. 7th : Fodder was limited, supply advanced in price to 6s the cwt. Horse stock in steady demand at late values, but inferior animals were dull of sale. At the wool, hide, and skin sale on Tuesday, 40 bales of wool’ brought fully late values, ranging from 4f dto 5Jd the lb. Hides were in larger, than usual, numbers and of better quality, best brands brought from 4d to 4|d the lb ; tallow, 19s to 31s 6d the owt ; skins, from Is to 2s 3d each. At the Sheep Fair held at Remuera on Tuesday, there was a limited number of stock yarded, less than at any time since the commencement of sheep fairs, but a good inquiry for young ewes which were about 8s each, higher in price than last year ; aged sheep and culls were, however, at lower values ; fair to good two and four tooth ewes, ranged from 13s to 20s, if in low condition, 8s to Ils ; aged sheep from 8s each ; young rams, about 100 yarded, Lincoln and Leicester brought from 2 guineas to 3 guineas each ; 13 black faces, Bto 5 guinea's each, and all sold ; aged rams from 7s to Bs, At the Rumueia yards on Thursday, dairy cows, near calving, were in request ; stoie cattle dull of sale ; fat cattle in full number ; choice animals thoroughly fatted, from 20s to 22s per 100 lbs, but medium cows and lightweight steers were from IJs to 18s ; fat sheep in less number than for several markets, but prices were lower by about 2s, and several pens were held over ; lambs were in modera’e number, but being weaned are falling off in condition, and for those (although of large frame) unsatisfactory prices arc obtained, at the same time those of good quality were eagerly sought for at late values ; young store pigs were in brisk demand at extreme prices, also dairy and house-fed porkers *, fat calves were in short supply and brought good prices. «
