SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
The usual monthly meeting of the School Committee took place last evening. Present Messrs. Johnstone (in the chair), Butt, Hall, Lewis, Faram, Cannon, and Piesse (Secretary), The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. correspondence. The in-coming and out-going correspondence, consisting of a number of telegrams relating to the purchase of section 13a, was then read and discussed. EDUCATION BOARD. After some discussion relating to the election of members to sit on the Education Board— Mr, Butt moved and Mr. Lewis seconded, “ That this meeting vote for the election of Messrs. Side, Harding, and White as members of the Hawke's Bay Education Board.”— Carried, signing of cheques, Mr. Butt moved and Mr. Cannon seconded “ That Messrs. Johnstone and Lewis be authorised to sign all cheques on the school account.” Carried. VISITING COMMITTEE. The following gentlemen were then appointed as Visiting Committees for the present and consecutive months : —February : Butt and Cannon. March : Hall and Johnstone. April: Lewis and Nolan. May : Butt and Faram. PAYMENT OF ACCOUNTS. The following accounts were passed for payment : —Robb, £1 6s 6d ; Morgan (school requisites) 14s. 9d. ; Tardue (cleaning), £5 ; to purchase of section 13a, £lOO. VOTE OF THANKS. Mr. Johnson moved and Mr. Faram seconded, “ That a cordial vote of thanks be passed to those gentlemen (Messrs. Butt, Lewis, Cannon and Hall) who had so energetically canvassed the town in aid of subscriptions for the purchase of section 13a.” Carried unanimously. The usual vote of thanks to the Chairman closed the meeting.
