[Reuter’s Telegrams.] SYDNEY, September 14. The General Synod has finally selected the names of the following clergymen for submission to the Bench of Bishops as candidates for the Bishopric of Sydney and Primacy of Australia, rendered vacant by the death of Bishop Barker : —Rev. Dr. Fleming, Canon of York; Rev. Richard Appleton ; and Rev. Dr. Barry, Bishop Suffragan of Dover. The Strikes In New South Wales. The threatened strike of Newcastle colliers has been averted. The situation of the iron trade strike is unaltered. MELBOURNE, September 14. The Coroner’s inquest on the exhumed body of Mrs. Stent was held to-day. The verdict of the jury was to the effect that there was no evidence to show the cause of death.
