Passengers : - -Mr. and Mrs. Smith, 1 Constable, and 3 Native prisoners. Th:; New ■Zealand Shijiping Company are likely to place one of their fleet in the Auckland and Fiji trade. The Rangatira, according to latest advices was wind bound at Castle Point on Tuesday last going South. This will account for her delay. She is not expected until Tuesday next. The Paterson has again passed on without culling. Of course private and unsubsidized boats cun suit their own trade and convenience in keeping their engagements or not; but when it special effort is made to advertize them, endeavour should be made to keep faith if possible. Captain Mundle forestalled the Paterson's arrival here, by advising the local A gent to announce it, and still she went past without culling. The p.s. Paterson steamed for Auckland, via Cape Runaway and Taurungn, on Monday lust, 6th inst., at 5 p.rn. She took a cargo of 1,400 sheep for Cape Runaway, and the following passengers for Tauranga and Auckland : —Major and Mrs. Roberts and maidservant, Mrs. Lowe, ?4iss Grice, Messrs. West, Wrigley, Hamer, Brannon, Lowe, and Goudy. —Napier Telegraph. 4 The A.S.P. Co.’s screw steamer Southern Cross, intended for the trade between Napier and Auckland, left England on the 26th January last. She will call at Newcastle, N.S.W., and then come straight to Auckland. Captain Holmes (late of the Star of the South) is in command of her. The Rakaia, one of the N.Z.s.s. Co.’s vessels, left Plymouth on the 29th January.
