HOSPITAL COMMITTEE.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Hospital Committee took place last night. Present : Messrs. E. K Brown (in the chair), W. Adair, J. W. Nolan, J. Booth, and H. McKay (Serecrary), Wardsman's Report. The Wardsman reported :—Remaining from last, 8; admitted during the month; to; discharged, :o; remaining, 8. Treasurer’s Report. The Treasurer reported :—Subscriptions received, £st os id; patients fees, /T 9 tos 6d. All the accounts which had been passed were paid. Available for current accounts £4l 15s nd. The interest on mortgages !O a) * s now overdue, but I have been promised that they will be paid in a few days. I have claimed on Government for subsidy (,£65 5s 1), a cheque which will be to hand in a few day st Payments. The following accounts were passed

Hospital Ball. The Secretary asked whether it was to be decided to hold the annual Hospital Ball. Mr Booth was not a dancing man, but he thought they should have a ball, aafljWihvays took wdl. It was certainly getting rather late~ for that sort of thing. Mr Adair did , not suppose that it would matter much, as the ladies were always ready for a dance. Mr Brown understood that the ladies committee were willing to undertake the sole management if it was all left to them. They were anxious to keep down all expenses, and would do every thing in the shape of cooking and waiting, &c., and would only incur the expense of the hall and advertising. They undertook to do all the work if they got all the credit. Mr Nolan thought they should be allowed to have the whole thing all to themselves. He would make a motion to that effect. Mr Booth seconded, and the motion was carried. Annual Sports. After considerable discussion as to the advisability of holding the annual Hospital Sports, it was resolved to ad • journ the question until that day fortnight.
