Sir Alexander Stuart, Premier, placed his resignation in the hands of the Governor to-day. His Excellency ssnt for the Hon. W. B. Dailey, AttorneyGeneral, who, however, declined to form a Ministry. Lord Loftus was then called upon The Hon. G. R. Dibbs, Colonial Treasurer, who undertook the task is now actively engaged in endeavoring to reconstruct the Ministry. Melbourne Oct. 6. Mr Service will shortly ask Parliament to authorise a loan of £2.000,000, to be applied to construct railways in Victoria The Government steamer Despatch, which was sent to survey the locality of the wreck of the steamer Gulf of Carpentaria. discovered that the sunken rock on which the vessel struck lies at a depth of fifteen feet below water mark.
