THE HOWARDE COMEDY COMPANY.
The above, company opened last night in Parnell and Boylan’s Hall, to an excellent house, with the laughable little comedy entitled “ Why Don’t She Marry,” the characters in which are but few, the two principle ones being Lisette and Naty Tieck, taken by Miss Jessie Howarde and Mr H. Cowan respectively. The acting and singing of Miss Jessie is certainly deserving of the highest praise, and received a well-merited applause, whilst the character of Naty Tieck most admirably suited Mr Cowan who made the most of it.
The“ Oleo of Casualties” consisted of a number of comic songs, rendered in character by Misses Kate and Jessie Howarde and must be seen to be fully appreciated. Each item of this part was received with such continuous applause as to demand a second appearance in each instance, —which must have been a severe tax upon the two performers, who had each to sustain very heavy and trying parts. The hornpipe by Miss Jessis Howarde brought down the house. “ The Professor ” concluded an evenings entertainment every item of which, from first to last, was most vociferously encored. The Company will give one more performance to-night when a new change ol programme and new songs will be introduced, and we have little doubt but what this sparkling little company will draw a crowded house.
On Thursday they appear at Ormond, and on Friday at Makaraka.
