BOROUGH ELECTION.
The large number of votes recorded tend to prove the lively interest which was taken in the municipal election by the ratepayers in general, although most of the candidates taemselves seemed to take matters very easy. The figures show that the large votes were pretty evenly split between the three successful candidates, while the respectable scoring of Messrs Hall and Maynard should act as a balm to those gentlemen's wounded feelings of disappointment. The following figures give the result:— J. Townley 249 » J. Trimmer ... ... 244 W. H. Tucker 235 M. Hall 149 J. Maynard 133 D. Hepburn 87 Total 1,097 There were 72 more votes recorded this year over last, as the following will show :— A. Graham 275 H. Lewis 180 S. M. Wilson 161 C. Ferris 141 S. Stevenson 120 H. Clayton 104 J. Tutchen 44 Total ... . ■ 1,025
