THE BRIDGE.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Can you tell me how it was that the P. W. Committee never made any formal report to the Council about the Turanganui Bridge. I see by your report of the meeting that Councillor Townley stated that the Engineer was to have reported on it, and that the matter had been left entirely with him. How was it, then, that no mention was made of the matters you spoke about in last Tuesday mornings paper re the painting and bolts, &c. ? If I remember rightly the Council decided some time ago to have the iron bolts, which come in contact with the metal sheathing, removed. But perhaps the Engineer thought it unnecessary to make the alteration, because he knew that the bolts would last quite as long as the bridge.—Yours, &c., Anti-Humbug.
