This permission has been granted, and I am no longer a surety,—not that I think it was by any means certain that such suretyship for a work performed would be a disqualification—but “ prevention is better than cure.” Ladies and Gentlemen, I now respectfully solicit your votes, and if yon do me the honor to elect me I will do my duty toward you in the future as I did in the past.
