PROBATION FOR YOUTHS
THEFT FROM LINER (Per Preaa Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Frank William Chalmers, aged 17, and Jack Bonny, aged 19, former members of the crew of the Strat’nallan, were admitted to 18 months’ probation in the Police Court to-day on a charge of the theft of jewellery and other goods from that vessel. They will remain under the control of the Salvation Army until they get work or a passage out of the country. It was stated that the shipping company had promised them a passage back to England as soon as room was available on an outgoing ship.
