WATERFRONT FATALITY
WORKER HIT ON CHEST TRUCK HOOK SLIPS (Pur Prt!ss Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. When a hook used for drawing a rake of trucks on the wharf at Lyttelton slipped this morning, it struck Clarence Harold Jackson, aged 33, married, a severe blow on the chest, inflicting internal injuries from which he later died in hospital. Mr. Jackson, employee of the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company, was standing near the rake of trucks while the Fordsdale was being unloaded. The hook also struck Mr. T. Bowling on 'the leg. He received medical attention at the casualty ward.
