GERMAN “MODERATION”
POLISH CITIES WARNED ALLEGED PERSECUTION SPIRIT OF VERSAILLES (Elec. Tel, Copyright—TJnited Press Assn.) (liccd. March 29, 2.45 p.m.) BERLIN, March 28. The diplomatic political correspondence journal says that acts against Germany might, despite the desire of the Reich to live at peace with Poland, result in' consequences as deplorable for the future harmonious development of this area of Europe as they would be harmful to Poland itself. ’
“Germany has little noticed recent incidents, but it should not be assumed from such lack of notice that the ■ incidents have been overlooked,” states the journal. "The reason for the German moderation has been the desire and hope that such straying from the correct path is only a temporary wave of chauvinism which will retreat 'before decency. Unfortunately the expectations were not fulfilled.
“If certain Polish cities believe it is in order to revile and persecute Germans, this can be interpreted only as a profession of faith in the spirit of Versailles.”
