45 YEARS’ SERVICE

BANKER RETIRES MR. ADAM WILSON 10 YEARS IN GISBORNE After 45 years in the service of the Bank of New Zealand Mr. Adam Wilson, manager of the Gisborne branch, will retire next Monday. Mr. Wilson joined the bank in 1894, being first stationed at Thames. His first transfer came when he was sent to the Palmerston North office of the bank, Mr. Wilson later going north again to take up duty in Paeroa. Another shift -came when Mr. Wilson was transferred to the South Island, Greymouth being his new post. On his next transfer Mr. Wilson went 'back to Paeroa, this time as manager of the branch, and later he returned to the branch in which he commenced Ais service, this time as manager. In 1929 Mr. Wilson came to Gisborne as manager of the 'branch here .and for the past 10 years he has been stationed here. The retiring officer soon made his mark in the business circles of the town and was a keen and’active member of the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club, while he was also prominent in sporting circles. He will spend his retirement in Napier.

Rotarians took the opportunity at tti-day’s luncheon of bidding farewell to Rotarian Wilson, who is a vicepresident of the club. Rotarian Chas. Matthews, who presided at the meeting, referred to Rotarian Wilson’s services to Rotary, and wished him and Mrs. Wilson every happiness during their retirement.
