DELIVERY OF MAILS
DELAYS UNAVOIDABLE BUSINESSMEN’S OPINION Appreciation of the efforts of the Napier - Wairoa-Gisborne Transport Service to maintain a regular service between Napier and Gisborne was voiced on behalf of businessmen by the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce in a letter forwarded to the transport company. The letter was written following receipt of one from the company dealing with a article which appeared in the Herald lately about delays to the mail service delivery in Gisborne. Delays Unavoidable The chamber pointed out that it wished to dissociate itself with the remarks contained in the article and that although as businessmen the members expected and appreciated a prompt mail delivery, those conversant with the transport conditions to which the service was subject readily appreciated that on certain occasions, due to unforeseen circumstances, some delays were unavoidable. Assurance was offered that the majority of Gisborne businessmen appreciated the efforts made to maintain the regularity of the service and sympathised with the company in the inconvenience and worry to which it had been put to during the past 12 months when, road conditions following the floods were anything but ideal
