PUN INVENTOR DIES

NEW YORK, Feb. 2. Francis Cashel Brown, Canadianborn inventor, who is credited with fashioning one o£ tire tirst vulcanised rubber fountain pens, died here suddenly yesterday. Mr. Brown, who was 87, was born and educated in Toronto. He came to the United Stales as a young man and in 1889 invented his fountain pen. At that time he was head of a large ink concern and was a close friend of Thomas Edison. Mr. Brown retired from the ink business in 1922, entering the insurance held. He is survived by two sons and two daughters.
