Mr. J. W. Reed, of the staff of the Magistrate's Court, Gisborne, has been transferred to the Social Security Department. Gisborne. The transfer will take effect immediately. The Very Rev. Father Herbert Doyle, 0.F.M., who has been apostolic visitor to the Franciscan order in Australia and New Zealand, and his secretary, Rev. Father Roger Maloney, 0.F.M., are returning by the Niagara to-day from Auckland to their headquarters in Glasgow. Captain J. W. Knox, Westport, has been appointed junior pilot for the Wanganui Harbour Board. Captain Knox is 41 years of age, and has had 22 years of sea service. For 16 years he was in the employ of the Union Steam Ship Company. He is actingharbourmaster in Westport. There were -aine applications for the position.
