CANON STEPHENSON
APPOINTM ENT ANNOUNCED The Rev. G. B. Stephenson, vicar of Dannevirke, has been appointed to fill the canoncy in the diocese of Waiapu rendered vacant ;by the death of the late Canon E. D. Rice. Canon Stephenson is a graduate of the University of New Zealand, having taken the M.Sc. degree, with first-class honours in natural science. He completed his theological studies at St. John's College, Auckland, and was ordained in the Diocese of Wellington in 1005, subsequently serving as a curate at Palmcrston North and holding the office of vicar at Pongaroa, Petone and Levin prior to his appointment as vicar of Dannevirke in 1919. Canon Stephenson, who will remain at Dannevirke, will represent the diocese of Waiapu on the executive of the Anglican 'Board of Missions The announcement of the appointment was made yesterday by the Bishop of Waiapu, the Rt. Rev. G. V. Gerard.
