DISTRICT ROADS
URGENCY OF WORK APPEAL TO BOARD The opinion that the Main Highways Board should be appraised of the condition of the main highways in the district was voiced by Mr. A. A. Fraser -at yesterday afternoon's meeting of the Gisborne Chamber qt Commerce. The discussion arose when Mr. J. O. Musgrave brought to the notice of the chamber the necessity for urgent work being carried out at McKay's crossing, on the GisborneOpotiki highway. Supporting Mr. Musgrave, ' Mr. Fraser said that money was being spent all over the country for road, bridge, and maintenance work, but the Gisborne district was being neglected. Citing the case of the Gisborne-Opotiki road, Mr. Fraser said that the district had a good case to offer here, especially in view of the recent fatal accident on this hill. After further discussion, it was decided to bring the matter before the Main Highways Board and Mr. A. G. Hultquist, the member for the Bay of Plenty electorate.
