DEFENCE LEAGUE WORK CHAMBER OF COM MERCK The valued work carried out by the New Zealand Defence League was endorsed by members of the Gisborne Chamber of Commerce at the monthly meeting held yesterday afternoon. The following were present: Messrs. 11. 11. De Costa, chairman. A. Wilson, M. J. White, J. Chrisp, L. Miles, C. Tilleard Natusch, .!. C. Graham. R. P. Baigent, W. E. Mcllwaine, R. W. .1. Edwards. J. Musgrave, 11. R. Kendon, R. G. Clare, B. S. Brce, IVI. F. Robinson, F. Tolerlon, A. A. Eraser, L. T. Burnard, and K. W. Bull. A report dealing with the work ol the league was read to members, tins dealing extensively with its work. The league's platform was offered the endorsement of the chamber by the chairman, and a motion that the chamber sponsor the formation of a branch of the league was carried on the motion of the chairman, seconded by Mr. J. C. Graham. Members were also commended to attend the public meeting to be addressed bv Major-General Sir Alexander Russell in the City Hall this evening. The condition of the access to Willan's bridge, in the vicinity of the Memorial Home, Mangapapa, was mentioned by the chairman, and it was decided to bring 'he matter before the Cook County Council, stressing tru urgency for repair work to lie done.
