A CRIMINAL OFFENCE
"It is a criminal offence on onesixth of the earth's surface to gather young people and teach them religion, any religion in Russia, declared Colonel *F. J. Miles, secretary of the Russian Missionary Society to a crowded audience in the Auckland Town Hall Concert chamber on Sunday. "Social service of the poor and needy was not permitted to the Christion communities on the ground that that was counter-revolutionary propaganda. When a pastor died the church was not permitted to appoint another in his place. It was a crimipal offence to print or circulate the Word of God or any portion of it."
