co no essions c! rant ed 'arrival date basis Information of importance to importers was receiver! at yesterday afternoon's meeting of the, Gisborne Chamber of .Commerce, when a circular letter from the general manager of the New Zealand Shipping Company, dealing with the import license regulations, was received from the local branch of the company. The letter read as follows: "With regard to licenses granted to importers to June 30, 1939, the writer, on behalf of the Overseas Committee, interviewed the Comptroller of Customs and arranged for the period of landing to be extended beyond June 30 in the case of the following vessels:— , "Sussex, due to arrive in New Zealand July 6. "Coptic, clue to arrive in New Zealand July 10. "Mataroa, due to arrive in New Zealand July 13. 'This will apply also to the Rangitiki and Tongariro, in the event of the arrival of the vessels being delayed beyond June 30. Arrival Date Basis "The arrival date at the first port in New Zealand has, of course, been j accepted as the basis for import license purposes, so that all cargo ■ hipped by the Turakina is automatically covered. With this information you will be in a position to deal with the position and reply to any inquiries that may be made by your local Chamber of Commerce or by individual importers." Later advice was received that the concession also had been granted to the Nardana from New York, and scheduled to arri,ve at Auckland on July 23, and the City of Singapore, clue at Auckland from New York on July 17.
