CENTENNIAL BATHS
WAIROA PROPOSAL NOTHING DONE YET (Spoci.il to tho Herald.) WAIROA, this day. Dissatisfaction with the progress made in connection with the arrangements for Waifoa's centennial was voiced at a meeting of the Wairoa Carnival Committee. '"There has been absolutely nothing done," stated Mr. W. Calder, who added that at a well-attended meeting a strong committee was elected to go into ways and means of obtaining funds for tho establishment of a centennial swimming bath in Wairoa. He was of the opinion that valuable time was being lost and he did not think for one moment, that, that was rigid. Something should have been started long ago and nearly two months had gone since the meeting. Mr. K. G. L. Smith said he agreed with Mr. Calder that something should have been done. The chairman, Mr. G. Powell, stated that he had approached the Mayor, Mr, It. L. Barker, on the subject, and had been told that the matter had not been forgotten. A meeting was to be held shortly. Mr. Powell pointed out that the Mayor had been particularly busy. It was decided that the committee approach the Wairoa Borough Council and ask permission to put up sideshows on Marine parade to raise funds towards Wairoa\s centennial baths.
