POPULAR RESIDENTS

; MR. AND MRS. McCAFFERY FAREWELLS AT MOTIJHORA (Herald Correspondent.) Mr and Mrs. W.-11. McCaffery, who are leaving Motuhora to-day for Wanganui, were the guests of honour at two functions last week-end. The Women's Institute and the Motu Tennis Club combined in holding a tennis party at Motu, and the ideal weather conditions made this . form of entertainment very popular. Mr N. G. Nisbett, president of the tennis club, assisted by Mr. G. Phillips organised a Yankee tournament, which was won by Mr. and Mrs. J. Smith, Matawai. During an interval in the play Mrs. A E. Legge, president of the MotuMotuhora Women's Institute, thanked Mr and Mrs. McCaffery for their, combined efforts in the dramatic circle, and Mrs. McCaffery for her work on the committee. Mrs. Legge expressed the wish that they would continue their studies in dramatic art in Wanganui, and their friends would look forward to hearing of them at the top of the ladder. On behalf of the institute, Mrs. Legge presented Mr. and Mrs. McCaffery with a pair of silver serviette rings embossed with the institute badge, wishing them, every success in their new home at Wanganui. Mrs. McCaffery thanked Mrs. Legge and the members of the institute for their gift. Efforts Worth While Mr. McCaffery, in thanking Mrs. Legge, said that their efforts in the dramatic circle had been worth while and they had enjoyed every minute of it, having learned the meaning of team work.
