SHEEP DOG TRIALS

WAIMATA MEETING MAIDENS WIN ALL EVENTS TWO TO ROGERS! ROGUE The success of maiden dogs was - most marked at the Waimata sheep ' dog trials on Thursday, Friday and : Saturday, and the 'first places in all three events were filled by maidens, Syir. E. (Rogers' Rogue securing a double win. The trials' were held' on Otonga station in hot' and dry conditions. Good entries were attracted, but the standard of work was not high. The judge, Mr. W. Hall, Matawhero, remarked that the work was the poorest he had seen at Waimata, and even the performances of the placed dogs were not always of a very high standard. The dogs which secured the greatest success were of the light, type, with the exception of the winner of the two hunts, and apparently the trials came at-an offperiod for dogs, for usually some excellent work is seen at Waimata.
