HICKEY TENNIS CUP

♦ i ■ CHALLENGE SUCCEEDS WIN BY TE ARAROA PLAY IN RUATORIA (Herald Correspondent.) A team from the Te Araroa Tennis Club visited Ruatoria last week-end and were successful in their challenge for the Hkkey Cup, defeating the Ruatoria team by 165 points to 161: The games were exciting, the result depending on the last set between Black and Parker, Te Araroa and Ngata and Smyth, Ruatoria. The home pair had to win by three games for the club to retain the cup. They were leading B—G, but the Te Araroa players proved too strong at the finish and emerged the Winners by 9-8. At the conclusion of play, Mr. T. Seymour, the Ruatoria club captain, presented the Cup and congratulated the visitors on' their win. Mr. Black, who replied On behalf of the Te Araroa team, thanked the ladies for morning and afternoon tea, and issued an invitation for members of the Ruatoria club to enter for the 1 tennis tournament to be held in Te Araroa at Easter.
