OBITUARY
NAPIER PILOT KILLED Private news was received from England during the week end of the death of Mr. Hugh Lynn McPhee, formerly of Napier and son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Dugald McPhee. Although no details are available, it is understood the late Mr. H. L. McPhee was killed on Saturday in an aeroplane crash in the British Isles, probably in Scotland where he was last stationed as a member of the Royal Air Force. MR, (!. A. THOMPSON The death has occurred in Wanganui of Mr. Gordon Alfred Thompson, aged 59, who in his youth was .regarded as one of the finest Rugby forwards in New Zealand. He played for the Wanganui and Canterbury provinces for miany years, and was selected for one of the trial matches for the 1905 All Blades, but was unable to play. He was one of the founders of the Wanganui Pirates Club, of which he was a life member and vice-president at (the time of his death. A Hastings exchange records the 'death of Mr. Patrick Harvey Burr, of Roberts street, a well known citizen and one who worked in intimate association with the late Mr. William Nelson. He was a sen of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Burr, of Hokianga, and was born in Wanganui.
