UNLICENSED TRUCK
BORROWED VEHICLE CHARGE AGAINST COMPANY A case of interest to transport operators was heard before Mr. E. L Walton, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, the hearing arising out of a transport company borrowing and operating an unlicensed vehicle. The borough traffic inspector, Mr. T. G Nowell, said that the case was called to bring it to the notice of transport operators. The inspector, who prosecuted, said that Ward's Transport Company, the defendants, had borrowed a truck from Newton King, Limited, for use in delivery work. The truck was unlicensed and no warrant of fitness had been issued for it. The truck usually used for delivery by Ward's had been out of commission at the time Norman Robb, who was driving the truck at the time of the offcrtce, was fined 10s, with 10s costs. The two companies concerned, Wards Transport and Newton King, Limited, were ordered to pay costs only.
