POVERTY BAY TITLES SPORTS CLUB FIXTURE KEEN CONTESTS Keen contests were witnessed at the annual championship meeting conducted by the Gisborne Sports Club at the Victoria Domain on Saturday afternoon. Despite the excellent sport provided, the fixture attracted only a moderate attendance. Points were awarded over a series of events for the professional athletic and cycling championships, and one of the outstanding performances was that of T. Trengrove, whose final burst of speed in the two distance running races .gained him first place in both events. The open greyhound championship was decided over a ‘l4oyds. course, the title being won by B. Davis’ White Peak, which earlier in the meeting annexed the hurdles race after conceding a big handicap.
