BOWLS UNDER DIFFICULTIES An extension light, from the pavilion held by a man in the centre of tha green and another man holding a storm lantern at the kitty, had to be employed for two heads of the final game of the women's bowls championship doubles' tournament at Winton, Southland. The score was at 18_7 w ith four heads still to be played when it became too dark to see, and this novel lighting method was adopted. Only two heads were played under these conditions and, as little difference was made to the score, the losers withdrew.
