NEW CHAIRMAN OF 8.8.C.
SIR ALLAN POWELL FIVE-YEAR APPOINTMENT (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, March 13. Sir Allan Powell has been appointed chairman of the Board of Governors of the British Broadcasting Corporation, in place of Mr. R. C. Norman
The appointment is for five years from April 19, Mr. Norman, whose original appointment expired in 1937 and who remained at the Government’s request, with a view to ensuring continuity when an important development, was in progress at Broadcasting House, has asked to be released.
