SOUND RATE COLLECTIONS CREDITABLE POSITION The amount of rates collected compared with previous years was considered very creditable position was reviewed at the; Maxh mcetine ot the Uawa County Count . there being present Cis. J. mcimcii. chairman, A. Donald, D. H. Hawkins, A H. Reeves, S. D. Reeves. C. E. Smith, and P. T. Weeks. In connection with the grant lor the Tolaga Bay-Arakihi road ot £550, t’2 for £). the Public Works Department. Gisborne, advised that the matter would be considered when information was received of tenders. A sub-committee, Crs. McNeil, Smith, and' Hawkins, was appointed to deal with the tenders. ' The engineer was instructed to carry out improvements to the cattle dip and pound yards. Advice was received from the No. 4 District Highways Council that additional authority for maintenance had been approved for the Tolaga Bay-Tamvhareparae highway. The clerk was instructed to tender the council’s thanks to Mr. H. Kenway for forwarding a cheque as a contribution towards tbe Huanui road metalling grant. Accounts amounting to £2l2(i 10s 2d were passed for payment.
