AMATEUR CYCLING
WINTER ROAD RACING TEAM FOR PALMERSTON During the coming winter the Gisborne Amateur Athletic and Harrier Club will stage its usual road l cycle races and indications are that the season will be a bumper one. The cycling section of the club's activities during the present track season has shown a pleasing revival and several new riders are expected to take part in the winter racing. The club will be well represented in the annual Palm*rston North to Wellington road race and it is expected that a team of six riders will take part in this- classic race in October. In the past three years the local colours have been carried in this race by G. Sutton, who will be a competitor this year. Sutton has figured prominently in this event on each occasion, but has suffered through lack of team support. With the assistance of lOther Gisborne riders this year, his prospects should be considerably brighter. At the conclusion of the track season this month the riders for this race will commence their road training.
