New Zealand Money

Sir, —i vvas astonished to read in Monday’s Herald a great song about New Zealand money not being wanted in Australia- or on board the boats going back. I was a passenger on board the Remuera sailing to Great Britain from Auckland on September 30, 1931. I can remember distinctly that no Australian money, silver or paper or copper, was accepted. Notices put up at the -bar, where aerated waters as well as intoxicants, etc., were sold, were worded: “Please do not tender Australian money as it will not be accepted.” I also know that there were no comments in any paper about “Aussie” money being refused and certainly cannot see why such an article was printed from Wellington, misleading people who do not know any better regarding New Zealand money. FAIR PLAY.
