R. HALL SCORES TWICE
A double success was scored by R. Hall in Saturday's pigeon races conducted by the Poverty Bay Centra, Homing Pigeon Society, when one ol his birds annexed the young bird championship from Tauranga and another bird scored in the south race from Takapau.
In the north race R. Hall's True Blue, which clocked in at 2.35 p.m., flew the distance of 122 miles in 3hr. 35min. 40sec. to win the young bird championship and the Sheppard Cup. The lour placed birds were:—R. Hall's True Blue, 1001.3yds. per min„ 1; M. Royd's bird, 1001.4yds. per min., 2; J. McLean's bird, 970.3yd5. per min., 3; A. O'Neill's bird, 968.7yd5. per min., 4.
The birds were liberated at Takapau at approximately 11 a.m. and the winner, R. Hall's State Express, was clocked in at 2.48 p.m.. a velocity of ] 004.5yd5. per min. The detailed results were:—R. Hall's Slate Express, 1004.5yd5. per min., 1; T. Crosby's bird, 995.7yd5. per min., 2; M. Royd's bird, 992.8yd5. per min., 3; I. Crosby's bird, 990.1yd5. per min., 4; M. Cook's bird, 933.7yd5. per min., 5; J, McLean's bird, 931.9yd5. per min., 0; C. Waldock's bird, 930yds. per min.,
Next Saturday the south route young bird championship will be flown from Takapau, a distance of 133 miles.
