DOMINION CONTESTS CARTERTON IN LEAD PROGRESS OF EVENTS (l'oi- Press Association.) WAN.GANUI, this day. Good progress was maintained yes.erday with the biennial (ire-fighting demonstrations of the United- Fire .Brigades' Association at Cook's Gardens. Four events were completed >n Wednesday and' three yesterday, a start being made with the seventh event, in the afternoon. Carterton so far 'has enjoyed most success in the competitions with two firsts, two seconds and a third. Petone, who won the biggest .share sf the prize-money at the last, demon(rations at Nelson, two years ago, has also done well and tills second place with one first, two seconds and i third. Ilokitika and Dannevirke have also secured first prizes.
Carterton up to last evening was eading in the championship competi"ion and the two shield events. Results of yesterday's events were:—
