TWO CURRENCY AREAS
PEKIN GOVERNMENT
OLD MONEY PASSING
(Reed. March 10, 2.40 p.m.) LONDON, March 9.
The Pekin correspondent of The Times says that as a result of the failure to secure wide circulation of the federal: reserve currency, the provisional Government is divided into, two currency areas. The first consists of 11 towns in the Hopei, Shang'tung, Shansi and Honan provinces, wherein the old currency will be illegal after to-day. Elsewhere is regarded as a bandit 7one to which the new currency will be extended -'following the extension of the Japanese military operations. Old notes in this area are still at par.
