Although the entries received for this year’s Show were the largest on record, the entry fees totalled only £286 3s 9d. compared with £294 17s last year, the drop this year being accounted for by a decrease in entries in the horse and sheep sections and competitions.

The president of the society, Mr. A. T. Carroll, congratulated the members and stewards on the success of the 1939 Show and added that they were fortunate in having ideal weather and everything in their favour. Mr. Carroll stated that one of the features of the permanent improvements this year was the fact that up to a point it was far more economical to complete a portion that was urgently required than to do all the improvements at once. When the committee was considering further improvements to the showgrounds it would be wise for them to take that into consideration.
