The weather was fine and there was an excellent attendance for the third day of the Victoria Racing Club's meeting at Flemington. 'lmitari, trained by the New Zea- i lander, Stan Reid, showed a great im- 1 provement on last Saturday's form to win the Autumn Hurdle Race. Celtic King, winner of the Pines Hurdle Race on Saturday, was unplaced to-day. Proof led throughout and registered a comfortable win in the Hopeful Stakes, in which the placed horses all finished near the inside rail. Bursary was never dangerous. Ajax registered his seventeenth successive win in tne King’s Plate. He now has 24 wins, three seconds and one third in 28 starts, and his stake winnings, totalling £28,175, place him seventeenth among the greatest stakewinners. Ajax scored an untroubled victory to-day over Aitchengee and Bourbon. He ran the last half-mile in 47sec. Bourbon finished stoutly and pleased his admirers in the Australian Cup next Saturday, in which he has 8.13. Aupapejo finished strongly to win the Elms Handicap in the last stride Horn tlie costly Carpentier. Swettenham was a good third. Crojick and National weakened in the final stages. High Caste, scored his third Victorian win n as many starts in the Ascotvale Stakes to-day. Zonda, who ran second to High Casio in the Sires’ Produce Stakes last Saturday, looked dangerous a furlong from the post, but nc was outstayed. Lusson was v moderate third. Aurania weakened. High Caste has won £3910 here.
