HIGH-CLASS WORK AT HALF PRICE - In the modern home beautiful piclures, like classics in a library, fonn an inseparable part of the furnishing, and the mentality of the occupant is undeniably stamped by the pictuios or engravings on the wall. The gai - ish highly-exaggerated pictures of twenty and thirty years ago, have now given way to, artistic oilettes reproduced from the leading art galleries of the world, or those etchings which by a skilled combination of light and shade, form an unforgetable impression on the mind. Pielures of these classes can now he seen at Eastwood's Book Store, where, owing to impending stock-taking, they are on sale at half price, Amongst the pictures are Somorscalos' delightful sea study, “Off Valparaiso,” from the original painting in the Tate Gallor.v, London, marked down to 3/-, the well-known digraph “Dawn” at 4/-, and a number of glamorous garden scenes in heavenly blue at 4/-. An original etching, signed by A. Watson Turnbull, entitled “The Dreaming Beauty of an Autumn Day," is for sale at 15/-. A printed slip states that the number etched was limited to 300 artists' proofs, Largo gorgeous coloured garden scenes by Flora Pilkington are priced at 4/-; original water colours of delicate hues, comprising English scenes, by W. Sands, and F. Pearson, run to 10/- each; and "Golden Dawn,” “Rosy Morn,” and other oilettes by Jean Lasalle are marked down to 8/-.- The collection, of which the above is merely an outline, is well worth a visit of inspection, at Eastwood’s Book Store at the corner of Gladstone Road and Derby Street.’
