Japanese Women Can Practise Law

For many years Japanese women have been fighting for the right to practise law. In 193.1 the Diet revised the law to effect this reform, but the revision did. not come into effect until 193(1. Now three young women have succeeded in passing the law examinations, and after they have served their articles and passed yet another examination, they Will be entitled to practise. \Vbat is still more interesting is the fact that they were among 2-12 successful candidates out of 2900 who sat for examinations, and one of them, Miss Yoshiko Muto, achieved fourth place.
