BRIDE GETS HER MAN
POLICE STATION CALL
LONDON, Jan. 21. The .story of a bride in wedding dress who took her groom direct from a police station cell to the altar was told at Slough, Middlesex, England. A 3 o’clock last Saturday afternoon Percy Clarke, aged 33, of St. Paul’s avenue, Slough, pursued such an erratic course with his bicycle that he was arrested.
At 3.40 he announced; “I’m getting married at 4 o’clock.” Police offered him bail. “No,” said Percy “Call tire wedding off.” Wedding guests were invited to the cell by the police, but Percy announced: “Here I am, and here I slay.”
At 4.30, the bride and her bridesmaids arrived at the police station, Soon after, Percy was on the way to St. Paul’s Church. He was married an hour late.
