Central Otago ’Quake

A sharp earthquake was felt m certain districts in Central Otago on Sunday morning. Though of short duration, the shake was sufficiently violent to cause hanging lights to sway. At Clyde and Alexandra, most residents felt a sudden jolt. Mr. It. Hewitt, a resident of Alexandra, stated that during 40 years residence in the township he had experienced more earth tremors, in the past six months than lie had in all the years he had lived in Central Otago.
