KEEN COMPETITION
BR ADFORD AND CONTINENT
(Per Press Association.) TIMARU, this day
More than 30,000 bales, the largest catalogue offered at this centre, commanded keen competition at the second Timaru sale this morning. The demand was for all classes of wool, with the Continent and Bradford buyers dominating the market and a small inquiry from Japan. Passings were few. Values for lialfbreds were slightly better than at Christchurch and crossbred was firm on Christchurch values. The clips in the main were sound, but some showed signs of the weather. It was drier than usual and there were some stained clips. Later transactions indicated that there was no quotable difference between to-day’s values and those realised 1 at Christchurch, values being fully firm. Top prices at 1 o’clock wire: —Merino, 16.\d; baifbred, 14j|d; crossbred, 11. id; three-quarterbred, 113 d; Corriedale, 12£d.
