Savage, and the Minister of Agriculture, the tHon. W. Lee Martin, on the one hand and the Minister of Lands, the Hon. F. Langstone, and the Minister of Finance, the 'l-lon. W. 'Nash, on the ' other, as to the' value of primary production in New Zealand was alleged by the president of the Southland provincial executive of the Farmers’ Union, Mr. A. R. Johnston, at a meeting of the executive yesterday. Mr. Johnston said that the farming community had always had the sympathy of Mr. Martin and it now had the sympathy of Mr. Savage, which it had not had before. "The less said about the others the better,” he added. “We know Mr. Langstone’s ideas are pretty drastic.” PAYMENT FOR CHEESE MANAWATU PROTEST REQUEST TO MINISTER (Pur.Press Association.) PALMERSTON N., this day. At a conference of the central ward of the Dairy Board yesterday, a resolution was passed protesting against the decision of the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash, regarding the question of the 2d differential payment for butterfat for cheese, as compared with the price of butterfat for the 1937-38 season, and asking that the Minister implement his unconditional promise that the 2d would be paid. A letter from the Minister stated that, after careful consideration of the facts, he considered the Government would not be justified in making a further payment for cheese for the 1937-38 season. Figures were presented by the Minister lo support his contention.
