GROUP TRAVEL SCHEME
CHEAP HOLIDAY TRIPS MOTHERS AND FAMILIES SOUTH ISLAND PROPOSAL (IVr Press Association.) TIMARU, this day. A scheme by which cheap holiday and recreation travels would be provided in New Zealand under a group system, is likely to be brought into operation shortly, according to a statement released yesterday by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry. The Minister said lie had long been of the opinion that there was opportunity for tiie adoption of a scheme by which parties, particularly mothers and families, could see at a low cost tiie scenic beauties cf the country. He had had brought before him a scheme by the Mount Cook Tourist Company, the provisions of which earned his whole-hearted support, for he saw in it a means of enabling the people of New Zealand to see their own country. He was glad to see the company was prepared to pioneer the scheme in tiie South Island and a staxt could be made with the work in this island. t ~ It was his intention to ask the National Council of Physical Welfare and Recreation to investigate the question of group travel with the idea of providing ways ancl means of travel in both islands.
