Burial of a Cat

Sir.—Last evening I buried the carcase of an outsize in cats that had been lying on the side of S-heehan street, apparently for several days (I was away for the week-end). As it appeared to be nobody’s business, I performed the last unpleasant rites, believing that nothing short of a petition signed by all the residents would have got Ihc work done by the proper authority, and I shudder to think of the condition of that cal had ii remained there much longer. I am wondering how the poor thing met its untimely end. It did not appear to have been killed iby a passing car, and i can only conclude that it fell and broke its neck while crossing our new footpath, or else that it died of a broken heart because of the hopelessness of ever seeing anything better. DESPERATE.
