NOVEL QUEEN CARNIVAL
A decision to hold a queen carnival to raise funds for centennial memorials, and for celebrations in the country, was reached at a meeting of the Centennial Committee of the Otamatea County, .Whangahei. Each riding in the county will select a candidate for the carnival. The secretary of the committee, Mr. A. 11. Dallas, who proposed the scheme, suggested that owing to the varying sizes- of the ridings a system of handicaps should be introduced so that smaller ridings should be on an equitable footing with larger ones.
